On any given day, West Bros Furniture receives
shipments of kiln-dried lumber from a number of select North
American sources. In negotiating with suppliers, we require that
they strictly adhere to sustainable forestry principles on both
public and private timberlands. These practices for land management,
reforestation, growing, nurturing and harvesting trees help to
protect the fragile ecosystems and landscapes of our forests and
ensure the availability of top quality for future generations.

As we begin the manufacturing process, each piece
of lumber passes through sophisticated equipment the measures, cuts and
sorts. This equipment provides optimum yields to make the most of every
piece of wood, with as little waste as possible. Even leftover wood is
collection, ground into fine shavings and sold to local farmers for
animal bedding. Our goal is make certain that no part of the tree is
wasted.
As components are assembled and products begin to take shape and are meticulously sanded in preparation for the finishing stage. Known for quality and durability, the ‘West finish’ provides superior consistency and protection to last a lifetime. However, as in any furniture finishing process, airborne emissions are released into the environment. It remains our goal to routinely monitor and report emissions to the Canadian government to ensure that these amounts are well below the acceptable limits. In addition, we carefully choose many water based materials whenever possible, and preserve and submit any thinners and cleaning materials to licensed liquid recycling companies.
Following the finishing stages, each unit is carefully inspected before the hardware, glass or chair seats are installed. The foam cushioning in our dining room chair seats are made using a unique pressure foaming technology that is virtually emission-free, and 100% recycled content.
Packaging of our products provides foam protection made of reusable and recyclable, CFC and HCFC-free, polyethylene plastic, while the corrugated cardboard boxes contain 94% recycled content.
